Preen x Aldo Rise

While in Crete I shot the collection of heels that Preen did in collaboration with Aldo this spring. Remember this post I did a last year? This time Aldo’s approach has been a bit different and introduced a collaboration exclusively with Preen. So which were my favorites...? Um all 6 pairs.

I wanted to kick off with a pair of pumps that got me the most excited, probably because they are the exact shoe version of this dream dress that did not go unloved for anyone. How the patchy, block heels with more colors that I can count on one hand manage to come across somewhat sophisticated is beyond me, but it illustrated the feel of the collection better than any words ever could.

ZARA top
MIH shorts

Another style that I loved was the pointy ‘Musilova’ that was done in two color ways. Worn here by the Mediterranean sea in a pinuppy spirit with Mih jeans shorts and Athena Procopiou scarf, heels on the beach? Always.

Our stay at the Blue Palace could not go undocumented. Poolside hanging in maybe the most practical pair from the collection, snake print and leather. The skirt was something I picked up few weeks ago, I think it needs a leather jacket for a Londonised version.

MARIMEKKO top
THE KOOPLES skirt

Then there is another white pair that don’t really need an introduction, these nineties pumps prove that white shoes are at their best when served pointy. As for the top, I find it a bit hard to pair but every so often, actually more often nowadays, our Finnish Marimekko come out with gems that are worth the investment.

My love for white heels might have stated on this blog more times that necessary, but they are my summery weak spot. For this collection I got to play around with three white pairs, of which one had to be shown in a pale get-up. This summers most used trousers brilliantly combine both a skirt and pants with being just the perfect length to show off this beautiful last pair.

Hope you loved the shoes as much as I did! Shop the stunning collection HERE

Excuses

I’m not usually the one who teases you with ‘previews’ but tonight I’m going to have to make an exception! I’m heading out in Helsinki with my sister, in a blazer dress that’s borderline too short, but I’m hoping most attention will be on my shoes...

More tomorrow, have a great night!

Nation procrastination

H&M trend jacket
GINA TRICOT jumper
THE KOOPLES skirt
CHANEL boy bag
WHISTLES shoes

I’m still in Finland, rather happy to be slightly stuck in time, although my crowded email inbox is a harsh reminder that I should already have dragged my ass back to London, like yesterday. Feeling surprisingly patriotic for someone that insisted on moving abroad four years ago. I know our Finnish summer has this effect on people, but right now I feel like I want to live right here and embrace my beautiful home country. You London with your rain, aren’t making anyone love life. Oh well, a few more days of light nights and hot days until it’s back to the big city.

Happy Midsummer!

Happy Midsummer weekend! I am celebrating again with family and friends on the Finnish seaside, in my opinion the only place to be right now.

Wishing you all a beautiful sunny Sunday xxx

MKA Olsen for Bik Bok

Have you heard that the Olsen twins are designing a collection for high-street brand Bik Bok? Or three collections to be exact. These campaign images landed in my inbox yesterday and I have to admit I am a little bit excited for what is to come, I don’t think my Olsen addiction will ever die. I’ve already had the privilege to shoot some of the clothes for an upcoming editorial so I can confirm that the pieces are worth the purchase when they hit stores early August.

A turquoise dip

A week back I was still doing the above, cool pool chill and the drill. Right now things aren’t too bad either as I’m in Finland getting ready to celebrate midsummer this weekend, aka. The longest day of the year!

Another funny thing worth mentioning is that for the first time we had the camera shutter speed on 8000 while shooting these pics, that’s how blinding the sun was it was in Crete! And so I came to noticed that I hardly ever talk about my photos or cameras although it plays a key role on this blog. I should start with at least introducing my equipment properly, don’t you think?

Crete through Instagram

Since most of my touristy pics from Crete ended up on my Insta wall (with a dedicated and very Mediterranean looking signature filter) I thought it would be acceptable to go through them on the blog as well! I always wanted to visit Greece and finally got to explore Crete. We only had time for one island this time, in the future I will still have to experience Santorini since people doesn't seem to hold back when it comes to compliments on that place.

So to put it in one paragraph..
Humbling cliffs, treasure shops and the most peaceful views over Elounda. Local leather goods and traditional Greek jewelry that I’ve had no problem incorporating into my daily style. Wine, beer and olive oil tasting on the days I didn’t fall asleep by the pool at our stunning hotel. From the apparel side I was either overdressed in lace or wrapped up in my favorite Greek’s designs. On this though, there is naturally more material to share.

About a boy...

CHANEL medium boy bag

Oh gosh, finally mine. Purchase of the year, I don’t know maybe life, as these are the gems that we wish we would have inherited from our mother. I’m not really a bag person (ish, maybe I’m now) cos everyone knows it’s about the shoes. But after having my eye on the boy for years, I knew that if I went to the opening of the new Bond st. store in London, I would have to honor the biggest Chanel store in the world with a legendary purchase. The worst part is that I promised myself to take shopping break but this all has just got me craving another boy - time to humble down, or is it?!

A day at Boutari

While our Crete visit I made sure we visited one of the local wine yards, so we stopped by Boutari on our last day. Took home a few bottles and kicked off my shoes while we sat in the sun and soaked up the beautiful view for a while.
