Lately on Instagram

So instalately has included: Shoes, naturally, but also beautiful Dubai, malls like I never seen before and a visit to a gold souk, no more words needed. Life between London and Helsinki, finally fulfilling my Lulu promise and another, even more epic bag score, see last picture....

You'll find me at @5inchandup, of course.

Washed out

Flash back to Paris, where my break from black continued. Refreshing, to say the least, to play with a palette that excludes black. Not that you haven't seen the beige and white combo before, but the leather jacket weather is a much needed update. I might have got a little bit carried away with coat purchases last year, but I’m not be ready to stop this quite yet. As much as I’m excited about the shorter layers, I can’t get this one out of my mind!

Almond toes and fluffy furs

Back to the only sunny day of Fashion Week, when we sat down at Tate Modern to see what Topshop had in store for us this season. Unique, being one of the most anticipated shows on the schedule, tends to deliver looks that I’m ready to embrace right off the runway and this time was no exception. A 2.0 version of the layered lace dress, fresh midis, thigh-high boots and of course, those socks in spat mules. Boxy furs with short skirts, here was something very 1990 Kate Moss about it all. My youth spent in wooden heels and almond toes has me longing back to the times when my feet were still alive. In other words, it looks like there is a much longed fall season ahead.

The red dress in the window

MARIA BLACK gold rings

It was the dress I was saving for Coachella, but then Dubai came along... I spotted it in the Oxford Street store window of River Island a few weeks ago and have had my mind on it ever since! Turns out the dress is from the Design Forum collaboration with designer Katie Eary and in stores now. Maybe a bit unexpected in my current mood of minimal basics but a piece so special it had to move in, surprised me too.

Every now and then along comes a denim jacket that draws me right back in to the 90’s spirit, so far these have had the tendency to be by Acne. A classic that needs a subtle upgrade in order to not look too much like a dodgy, second hand, one dollar find. It’s a fine line so I suggest being selective, there is more blue denim from the 80’s to be discovered that there is discoverers, so you get the point.

Endless Euphoria

ZARA two-piece
KAREN LONDON rings
CALVIN KLEIN ‘Endless Euphoria’ perfume

When in Dubai, I had the opportunity to shoot a little collaboration with Calvin Klein’s new fragrance ‘Endless Euphoria’. I could not think of a better setting that describes my ideal euphoric moment than an afternoon on a quiet beach hidden away from rest of the world. Dressed in all white to officially welcome the first month of spring, accompanied by a new, fresh perfume to set the mood.

So although it’s time to return to life in London, I’ll leave with a handful of great memories that will live forever, but I’m sure London in full spring bloom will not be so bad either. So tell me, what’s your ‘Endless Euphoria’ moment?

The shoeroom at LFW

Favorites from the RCA ‘Out of Step: Avant Garde Footwear’ exhibition

Whilst LFW was in full swing, I took the time to stop by the designer showrooms that surrounded Somerset House. With, of course, shoes in mind I sorted through the selection of the most interesting brand displays and found indeed some shoes that captured my attention. With Chelsea Paris being maybe the most wearable, fresh brand to look out for, Kerrie Luft also impressed me with her fresh take on heels. Making me wish I had more than just mostly cigarette heels in my collection...

Paint it black

ZARA coat and pants
STELLA MCCARTNEY shoes

Call me boring but wearing all black is one of my all time favorite get-ups. We blonds can get away with anything, ad a smile and that applies to many things. I’m lucky enough to be in Dubai at the moment (!) but looking back at what I wore i London has me at ease, black will never let you down. A few days days away from layering will reenergize my sartorial batteries like nothing else, so follow me on Instagram if you can bare the current, beachy updates. You'll find me at @5inchandup, of course.
