CHARLIE MAY dress

Less is more, especially when it comes to jewellery. I often find the delicate pieces more personal as they play a small but meaningful role in your eclectic style, complimenting rather than overpowering is how I’ve grown to like my bijou.

This week I’m teaming up with jewellery specialist Swarovski, to talk you through my favorite earring trends for summer. As you may know, I’m usually the ring girl so the new found love of dainty earrings is quite refreshing.

Let’s talk about the ear cuff, a piece that would often get lost in my mane, but brings that little extra je ne sais quoi that peeps out at the flick of my hair. I’ve been preferring gold jewellery for quite some time, not to mention the ‘one earring trend’ that is still going strong.

For my everyday pick, I opted for subtle crystals, a pair I’ve been wearing since the shoot. Are we ever going to get enough of simple studs? Most likely not, never underestimate the beauty of simplicity.

Last but not least my favorite, the pearls. Do I need to say more? Actually yes, as they are built as jackets and come with a detachable back part of 3 crystals, fitting my two favorite earring styles in one. The little pearl trend have been dominating thejewellery  market for a good few years now. Sure somewhat always in trend but to able to describe pearls as ‘cool’ is another thing.

So all small and simple but definitely the right piece for the final touch for us lovers of minimalism. My style advice? It’s all about balancing it out with some contrasts - Like the messy do, my trusted best friend.

Bare legs, short sleeves and trends dominated by 50 shades of (god damn) beige. Nothing welcomes the warmer weather better than a break from black and for the first time ever, I’m not hating it! I find it quite intriguing to be honest. I recently got up close and personal with the new collections at Jigsaw, which is undergoing a major update. A refreshing new take on some of the most sought after spring trends, like the one sported above - utility. Cleaner than ever, sharp and feminine, I have not had the army inspired suit in my wardrobe for a while. The dress is especially a piece that I’ve been missing from my overflowing closet, where I still sadly often go to experience the classic ‘a room full of clothes but nothing to wear’ syndrome. I’ve come to realize, the more you have the harder it really is to choose, even when it comes to something so routine as getting dressed. So I’m planning to resize, rethink and smarten my closet while I rely on some seasonal basics. Easy day dresses are true sartorial heroes and surprisingly underrated. Anything that looks this sharp and completes an outfit is not phrased enough in my book. Not to mention it can hide a bikini underneath, a subtle twist to take me from daytime to poolside in less than ten seconds.

Rewind a few weeks back, I took a trip up to Cheshire Oaks for a day of shopping at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlets. The task was indeed to shop, but not for myself this time! Well, I did pick up a few steals end of the day, but what I came to do was to pick up a selection of this seasons best accessories for you. Although it was a day at an outlet, there was no shortage of choices that matched the spring trends perfectly. Check out the video and you’ll see which accessories I picked and why. One lucky winner will win the whole lot, simply a retweet and a follow of @McArthurGlenUK on Twitter will put you in the running, details here. Good Luck!

What better way to celebrate the beautiful arrival of spring, than going back to basics in simple, well fitted denim. Expect some serious 70’s channeling this season but what never fails and never dates is skinny jeans, quality staples and most importantly - effortless styling. When the fit is good, getting dressed is the easiest thing on your agenda. Allow me to be the living proof. To celebrate their 125 years as a jeans specialist, I’m teaming up with Lee Jeans to show you my favorite picks from the new collection. Light denim to balance my dominant black wardrobe feels like the right directing this spring, I’m especially loving the on point blue denim on denim combination, you can never go wrong with this uniform.

Fashion week month was all about dressing up in skirts and well tailored suits, I found myself telling people ‘I can’t wait to get back into my jeans again.’ Not like I’m about to bring out a sneaker for you (you know me better) but sometimes it’s nice to go low key. Dressed up wardrobe classics, this is as close as I get to a casual Friday.

IVANA HELSINKI cape
CHANEL 'Woc' bag
VALENTINO shoes

There is a whole handful of lady-like details in this look from PFW, when in France they say. Red lips, pearls, a new Chanel and even newer - my Valentino heels! Eek, indeed I took the plunge to rockstuds and I can tell you there is no going back! But more on these babies soon, they deserve their own feature. I wore notting but the cape this day, solid prof that a good coat is sometimes all you need. Clothing underneath - optional, depends what you are doing afterwards.

Bright Blooms

I can't help but notice all the budding plants and trees around me. I've been running a lot outside thanks to the warmer temps and longer hours of sunshine. I often take a minute mid-run, in awe of God's beautiful creation, to stop and take in the scenery.  I love seeing the transition  from Winter to Spring.  It's like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly.

This blouse with it's bright blooms is a pretty blend of aqua and pops of yellow & blush.  It's silk, my favorite fabric, and feels light and airy; essential for surviving the southern heat that's just around the corner.

I pulled from the hints of yellow and blush in the blouse and paired it with a deeper golden-yellow pencil skirt & quilted pink handbag for an office look.  Now these pumps are bright white and sharp, but they are not to be worn until after Easter Sunday.
For casual styling add to white jeans/shorts/skirt and  a comfy pair of sandals.

Speaking of blooms, most of my gal pals love flowers: tulips, hydrangeas, daisies, lilies, roses .... the list goes on.  I personally like my flowers in prints on my garments.
Confession:  I'm not a flower person and haven't owned a living plant in several years!
If I had to pick a favorite, it'd be a magnolia flower.  I plan to add magnolia prints in my home decor this year!! Stay tuned :)
